Colombia's FARC Releases Communiqueon CIA "Prisoners of War"---------------------------------------------------The Revolutionary Armed Forces of ColombiaPeople's Army (FARC-EP) hereby informsnational and international opinion:1. That on the 13 of February at 08:10 hours a unit ofthe Bloque Sur shot down a small aircraft, property ofthe Government of the U.S., at Inspección de Santanade las Hermosas, jurisdiction of the municipality ofFlorencia Caquetá. The crew was made up of a Colombiansoldier and 4 CIA agents, three of which are beingheld by us.2. The aircraft, according to Colombian militarysources, was conducting a counter guerrillareconnaissance mission, a fact verified by theguerrilla unit which shot the aircraft down.3. We acknowledge the high interest of the NorthAmerican embassy in Bogota and certain individuals inthis matter, where a vehement call is being made tothe FARC to respect the life and physical integrity ofthe three gringo officials.4.
